 Village People of Laoniuwan

Here is a destination you won’t find in Lonely Planet. The tiny village (we’re talking 20 to 30 families) of Liaoniuwan sits atop a loess plateau in the Yellow River Valley of Shanxi province. With a view of both the Yellow River and the Great Wall, this is some of the best scenery in China. Here, you’ll can actually stay in a cave-home built into the rocky terrain overlooking a gorge.
